Privacy Policy
Effective June 8, 2026
Who we are
Sprucy (sprucy.org) is a community platform operated by Yeix.io. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our website and services.
Information we collect
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), and optional profile avatar URL when you register or sign in.
- Community content — posts, comments, volunteer sign-ups, RSVPs, project updates, and other contributions you make within a community.
- Usage and session data — we use an HTTP-only session cookie (
sprucy_session) to keep you signed in. We use PostHog for product analytics (page views and feature usage). We do not use advertising or cross-site ad trackers. - Payment-related information — if you donate, payment details are processed by Stripe or Patreon. We receive confirmation of completed payments (amount, status, and associated email when provided by the processor) but do not store full card numbers on our servers.
How we use your information
- Authenticate you and maintain your account and community memberships.
- Display your name and avatar on posts and comments you create.
- Send transactional emails (magic links, password reset, email verification, activity notifications, and donation receipts) via our email provider.
- Record donations and project fundraising progress when payments complete.
- Operate community features such as invites, digests, and moderation tools.
- Understand how the product is used (aggregate analytics via PostHog) so we can improve Sprucy for communities.
Third-party services
We share information only as needed to run the service, including with:
- Sign-in providers — if you choose GitHub, Google, Facebook, or Apple sign-in, those providers authenticate you and share basic profile information (such as name and email) with us per their policies.
- Mailjet — delivers email on our behalf.
- Stripe and Patreon — process donations you initiate.
- PostHog — product analytics (page views and events). Identified profiles are created only after you sign in; we pass your Sprucy user id, not your email, as the analytics identifier.
- Hosting and infrastructure — our application and database are hosted on managed cloud providers that process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
Post cover images may load from external URLs you or community admins provide (for example, Alaska.org or community websites). Those sites have their own privacy practices.
Cookies
We use an HTTP-only session cookie to keep you logged in. PostHog may store analytics identifiers in cookies or local storage on our domain. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising or ad retargeting.
Data retention
We retain account and community content for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service. You may request account deletion by contacting us; see our Data Deletion Instructions for details (including if you signed in with Facebook). Some community content you posted may remain visible to preserve thread context unless removed by community moderators.
Your choices
- Update your name and avatar at any time from your profile page.
- Sign out to end your session; you can clear cookies in your browser settings.
- Opt out of optional emails where an unsubscribe link is provided.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data.
Children
Sprucy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security
We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and HTTP-only session cookies. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we work to protect your data and review our practices regularly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date . Continued use of Sprucy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. See also our Terms of Service.
